James McArthur was born 7 October 1987 is a Scottish footballer who plays for Wigan Athletic in the English Premier League. He debuted in January 2005 against Ross County. He settled in Hamilton team next season and scored his first goal in April 2006 against St. Johnstone.
Such was his progress that he was captain of his former club Hamilton Aberdeen in February 2008 for a Scottish Cup and was nominated to the First Division Player of the Year for the 2007-08 season.
In 2009-10 campaign, showed the English clubs, including West Bromwich Albion, Sheffield United and Sunderland FC interest McArthur. On April 5, 2010 McArthur went on a three day visit in the Premier League club Wigan Athletic with a view to a permanent move this summer.
