Paris charged with DUI

Paris Hilton has been charged with two misdemeanors as a result of her September 7 arrest for DUI. An LA city attorney spokesman said Tuesday that the socialite is scheduled for arraignment on Thursday for driving under the influence and driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08 or higher, but that Hilton is not legally required to attend the hearing. An LA attorney with 30 years of experience handling DUI cases told People.com, "I'd be very surprised if she does any jailtime. If she pleads guilty, she'd likely pay a fine, attend DUI school and be on probation for three years." The maximum punishment Hilton could receive for a first-time infraction is a $1000 fine and/or six months in jail.
